replication Viral proteins are made using the hosts cellular machinery, following this the viral proteins gather with the viral RNA at the cell membrane to prepare for budding. The mRNA derived from the viral DNA uses the host's cellular mechanisms to manufacture virus proteins (core proteins, envelope proteins, enzymes and regulatory proteins essential for HIV replication). The core proteins are produced as a single multi-protein molecule which later requires cutting in the maturation process. These are transported to the cell membrane with viral RNA in preparation for assembly and budding. |
